About AutoZmotive
Who owns AutoZmotive?
AutoZmotive is owned and operated by Evan, a certified mechanic and lifelong Northeast Philadelphia resident. Evan opened the shop to give the Holmesburg community a trustworthy alternative to dealerships and chain shops — a place where you always know what you're paying for and why.
How long have you been in business?
AutoZmotive opened in 2024. In a short time we've built a 5-star reputation on Google from real Philadelphia drivers who value honest work, transparent pricing, and quality repairs.
Where are you located?
We're located at 7929 Charles St, Philadelphia, PA 19136 — in the Holmesburg neighborhood of Northeast Philadelphia. We serve drivers from Holmesburg, Mayfair, Torresdale, Fox Chase, and all surrounding communities.
Get directions on Google MapsWhat are your hours?
We're open Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, and Saturday 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM. We're closed on Sundays. If you need a state inspection, drop your vehicle off before 9:30 AM to qualify for our $29.95 special pricing.
Do you do walk-ins or appointments only?
Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are preferred so we can have the right parts ready and minimize your wait time. You can book online anytime or call us at (215) 565-0220 to schedule.

How much does an oil change cost?
Our full synthetic oil change starts at $69.99 for up to 5 quarts with a standard filter. The price includes fluid top-off, tire pressure check, and a complimentary multi-point inspection. Cartridge-style filters or vehicles requiring more than 5 quarts may be slightly higher. We use full synthetic on every oil change — no conventional, no blends.
Oil change detailsHow much is a brake job?
Brake pad replacement starts at $159.99 per axle, which includes pads, caliper cleaning and lubrication, and a road test. If your rotors need resurfacing or replacement, that's additional. We always show you photos or video of worn parts before starting any brake work so you can see exactly what needs attention.
Brake service detailsWhat payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash, all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover). Please call ahead if you have questions about payment for a specific repair.
Do you offer financing?
We currently do not offer in-house financing. For large repairs, we recommend reaching out to your bank or credit union about a personal loan or credit line before your appointment. Our transparent estimates make it easy to plan ahead.
Why are your prices different from the dealer?
Dealerships charge for their franchise fees, brand overhead, and high-volume corporate pricing — not just parts and labor. As an independent shop, we have lower overhead and pass those savings on to you. You get the same quality work and parts without the dealer markup.
Why choose an independent shopCosts, Comparisons & Smart Decisions
Is it cheaper to go to a dealership or a local mechanic?
Almost always a local shop. An independent like AutoZmotive typically runs 30–50% less than a dealer for the same brake, oil, and maintenance work — the same quality parts and ASE-certified labor, without the franchise markup. For example, our full synthetic oil change is $69.99 versus the $100+ many dealers charge.
Why choose an independent shopHow much should an oil change cost in 2026?
A full synthetic oil change generally runs about $70–$130 in the Philadelphia area in 2026. AutoZmotive charges a flat $69.99 for up to 5 quarts with a standard filter, and that includes a free multi-point inspection — so you're at the low end with no surprise upsell.
Oil change detailsDo I really need new rotors when I replace my brake pads?
Not always. If your rotors are still within spec and not warped, we can resurface or reuse them and replace only the pads (from $159.99 per axle). We measure them and show you the reading on video — you pay for rotors only if they genuinely need it.
Brake service detailsShould I have to pay a diagnostic fee?
A fair diagnostic fee is normal — it pays for professional scan tools and a technician's time to find the real problem instead of guessing. AutoZmotive's diagnostic starts at $75, and we credit it toward your repair if you have the work done with us, so you never pay twice.
Is it worth fixing my car or should I just replace it?
A good rule of thumb: if the repair costs less than about half of what the car is worth, fixing it is usually the smarter move. We give you an honest written estimate and our real opinion — if a repair isn't worth it on your specific vehicle, we'll tell you straight.
Is full synthetic oil worth it over conventional?
For nearly every modern engine, yes. Full synthetic protects better in Philadelphia's stop-and-go traffic and temperature swings and lasts to about 5,000 miles between changes. That's why AutoZmotive uses full synthetic on every oil change — no blends, no conventional — for $69.99.
Oil change serviceHow much does a mechanic charge per hour?
Shop labor rates in Philadelphia typically run $100–$160 per hour, and dealers are often higher. AutoZmotive keeps rates fair and quotes most jobs as a flat, all-in price up front, so you know the total before we start any work — no surprise hourly creep.
Services
What vehicles do you service?
We service all makes and models — domestic and foreign. That includes American brands like Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge, and GMC; Japanese brands like Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Subaru, Hyundai, and Kia; and European luxury vehicles including BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and Volkswagen.
View all servicesDo you work on BMW, Mercedes, Audi?
Yes. We work on European luxury vehicles including BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, and Land Rover. We use professional-grade diagnostic tools — including the Topdon Phoenix Max and Launch scan tools — that cover all European makes. You get honest, fair pricing without a luxury surcharge.
Do you service Tesla and other EVs?
We service electric and hybrid vehicles for brakes, tires, suspension, general maintenance, and diagnostics. We do not perform high-voltage battery work or EV-specific powertrain repairs, which require OEM-level certification. One of our verified customers brought in their Tesla for wheels and specialty tires — we got it done.
Do you do state inspections?
Yes — we're a certified PA state inspection station. Our standard inspection price is competitive, and if you drop your vehicle off before 9:30 AM, you qualify for our $29.95 special pricing. We cover both the safety inspection and emissions (OBD-II) test.
State inspection detailsDo you do emissions testing?
Yes. Pennsylvania's emissions test is included with our state inspection service. We use state-approved OBD-II testing equipment. If your vehicle has a check engine light on, it will fail emissions — we can diagnose and repair the underlying issue before your inspection.
Do you do diesel trucks?
We handle most diesel maintenance and repairs including oil changes, brakes, suspension, and diagnostics. For complex diesel-specific engine work on large commercial trucks, please call ahead so we can confirm capability for your specific vehicle.
Warranty & Guarantee
What warranty do you offer?
Every repair at AutoZmotive is backed by a 12-month / 12,000-mile warranty on parts and labor. This is our commitment that the work was done right. If something covered by the warranty fails, we'll make it right at no additional charge.
What does the 12-month warranty cover?
Our warranty covers defects in parts and workmanship for 12 months or 12,000 miles from the date of service, whichever comes first. It applies to the specific repair performed — for example, if we replaced your brake pads and rotors, that axle is covered. Wear-and-tear on unrelated components or damage from accidents is not covered.
What if something goes wrong after the repair?
Call or text us right away — (215) 565-0220. We stand behind every job we do. If the issue is related to the work we performed and falls within the warranty period, we will diagnose and repair it at no cost to you. You deal directly with Evan, the person who did the work.
Do you honor warranties on customer-supplied parts?
We can install customer-supplied parts in some situations, but we cannot offer our standard 12-month warranty on those parts since we cannot control their quality. Labor may still be warranted. Call ahead to discuss your situation before your appointment.
Appointments & Booking
How do I book an appointment?
You can book online using our appointment scheduler, call us at (215) 565-0220, or text us at (215) 978-7049. Online booking is available 24/7 and lets you pick your service, date, and time at your convenience.
Book online nowCan I get a same-day appointment?
We do our best to accommodate same-day requests, especially for urgent issues. Call us at (215) 565-0220 early in the morning for the best chance of same-day service. Walk-ins are welcome when we have availability.
How long will my repair take?
It depends on the service. An oil change typically takes 30–45 minutes. Brake service is usually 1–2 hours. Diagnostics and engine repairs can take a full day or more depending on complexity. We'll give you an honest time estimate when you drop off and keep you updated throughout the day.
Do you offer loaner cars?
We do not currently offer loaner vehicles. If you need transportation while your car is being serviced, we recommend arranging a ride through a friend or rideshare app. We'll call or text you as soon as your vehicle is ready.
Diagnostic & Repair Process
Will you show me what's wrong?
Always. Before any repair begins, we photograph or film the worn or damaged part and show it to you. No pressure, no guessing — you see exactly what we found and decide whether to proceed. This is a core part of how we operate.
Do you charge for estimates?
Visual estimates are free. For in-depth diagnostic work — such as tracing an electrical issue or diagnosing engine problems — we charge a diagnostic fee starting at $75 because it involves significant time and professional equipment. The fee is credited toward your repair if you proceed.
What if the repair costs more than estimated?
We will always contact you before exceeding the original estimate. You'll never be surprised by a bill that's higher than what we discussed. If we discover additional issues during the repair, we explain them, show you evidence, and get your approval before doing any additional work.
Can I bring my own parts?
In some cases yes, but we recommend against it for most repairs. Parts from unknown sources may not fit correctly or meet quality standards, and we cannot warranty them. We source quality parts that meet or exceed OEM specifications. Call us to discuss your specific situation.
Do you use OEM or aftermarket parts?
We use quality aftermarket parts that meet or exceed OEM specifications for most repairs. For certain European luxury vehicles or specific components, OEM parts may be recommended. We'll discuss your options and pricing before ordering any parts.
Honesty & Trust
How do I know if a mechanic is ripping me off?
Watch for red flags: no written estimate, pressure to fix everything 'today,' and refusing to show you the worn part. A trustworthy shop explains the problem, shows you the evidence, and gets your approval before any work. AutoZmotive shows photo or video of every bad part and never works without your OK.
Are you ASE certified, and what does that mean?
Yes. ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) is the national standard that certifies a technician has passed rigorous testing and proven real hands-on experience. Owner Evan is ASE-certified, so the person diagnosing and repairing your car has verified expertise — not a trainee learning on your vehicle.
Meet EvanDo you give a written estimate before doing the work?
Always. You get a clear written estimate before we touch anything, and we won't exceed it without calling you first. Visual estimates are free; in-depth diagnostics start at $75 and are credited toward the repair. You'll never see a surprise number on the final bill.
Specific Services
How often should I get an oil change?
We recommend every 5,000 miles for vehicles using full synthetic oil under normal driving conditions. If you drive primarily short trips in stop-and-go Philadelphia traffic, or you tow frequently, consider every 3,000–4,000 miles. Always follow your vehicle's oil life monitor as a secondary guide.
Oil change serviceHow do I know if I need new brakes?
Common signs include squealing or grinding when braking, a soft or spongy brake pedal, vibration through the steering wheel when stopping, or the vehicle pulling to one side under braking. If your brake warning light is on, come in immediately. We offer a free visual brake inspection with any service visit.
Brake service detailsWhat's a multi-point inspection?
A multi-point inspection is a comprehensive visual check of your vehicle's key systems — tires, brakes, fluids, lights, belts, hoses, and battery. We perform one with every oil change at no extra cost. It's designed to catch developing issues before they become costly breakdowns.
Do you rotate tires?
Yes. Tire rotation is part of our preventative maintenance services. Rotating tires regularly ensures even tread wear across all four corners, extending the life of your tires and improving handling. We recommend rotation every 5,000–7,500 miles.
Preventative maintenanceCan you fix my A/C?
Yes — A/C repair and recharge is one of our featured services. We work with both R134a refrigerant ($150–$200) and the newer 1234YF refrigerant used in most post-2015 vehicles ($230–$300). We also diagnose and repair compressors, condensers, evaporators, and heater cores.
A/C repair serviceDo you do alignments?
Yes. We offer four-wheel alignment for $120. Proper alignment reduces tire wear, improves handling, and helps you avoid drifting on Philadelphia's uneven roads. We recommend checking alignment annually or any time you've hit a significant pothole or curb.
Alignment serviceCar Symptoms & What They Mean
Why does my car shake or vibrate when I brake?
Most often it's warped front rotors — the uneven surface makes the steering wheel or pedal pulse when you stop. It can also be worn pads or a stuck caliper. We'll show you the rotor on video; a brake job starts at $159.99 per axle and is usually finished the same day.
Brake service detailsWhat does it mean when my brakes squeal or grind?
Squealing usually means the pads are getting thin and the wear indicator is touching the rotor — time for new pads soon. Grinding is more serious: that's metal-on-metal, and it's no longer safe to drive. Come in right away — we offer a free visual brake check with any visit.
Brake service detailsIs it safe to drive with grinding brakes?
No. A grinding noise means the pad material is gone and metal is scoring your rotors — braking distance increases and the repair gets more expensive every mile you drive. Stop driving it and call us at (215) 565-0220; we can usually get you in the same day.
Why is my car's A/C not blowing cold air?
Usually low refrigerant from a slow leak, but it can also be a failing compressor, a clogged condenser, or an electrical fault. We diagnose the actual cause instead of just topping it off. An A/C recharge runs $150–$300 depending on the refrigerant your car uses.
A/C repair serviceMy car won't start — is it the battery or the alternator?
Quick test: if the engine cranks slowly or the lights are dim, it's usually the battery. If it dies again shortly after a jump-start, the alternator likely isn't charging. We'll test both — bring it in or text (215) 978-7049 and we'll point you the right way.
What does the check engine light mean?
It means your car's computer logged a fault — anything from a loose gas cap to a misfire or an emissions sensor. A steady light isn't an emergency, but a flashing one means stop driving. We pull the codes and explain them in plain English; diagnostics start at $75.
Engine diagnosticsWhy is my car pulling to one side or my steering wheel off-center?
Usually an alignment that's been knocked out — very common after Philadelphia potholes — but it can also be uneven tire pressure or a worn suspension part. A 4-wheel alignment is $120, and we check the suspension first so we're fixing the real cause, not just the symptom.
Alignment serviceWhat's that clunking noise when I go over bumps?
Clunking over bumps usually points to worn suspension parts — struts, shocks, sway-bar links, or control-arm bushings. It's both a ride-quality and a safety issue worth checking. We'll inspect it and show you the worn part on video before recommending any repair.
View all servicesPA Inspection & Philadelphia Driving
Does Philadelphia require emissions testing?
Yes. Philadelphia is one of Pennsylvania's emissions-program counties, so your annual visit includes both a safety inspection and an OBD-II emissions test. AutoZmotive is a certified station and does both in one stop — drop off before 9:30 AM for our $29.95 inspection special.
PA state inspection infoWhat do they check in a PA state inspection?
The safety inspection covers brakes, tires, steering and suspension, lights, wipers, mirrors, horn, seat belts, and the exhaust system, plus the OBD-II emissions test. If anything fails, we show you exactly what and why before any repair. Most inspections take 30–45 minutes.
PA state inspection infoWhat happens if my PA inspection sticker is expired?
Driving on an expired sticker can get you a ticket, and Pennsylvania has no grace period once the month on your sticker passes — so handle it promptly. Book online or call (215) 565-0220, bring your registration and insurance card, and we'll take care of it the same day in most cases.
Book an inspectionCan a pothole damage my car, and how do I check?
Yes — Philadelphia potholes regularly knock out wheel alignment and can bend a rim or damage struts and control arms. Warning signs are the car pulling to one side, an off-center steering wheel, or new vibration. A 4-wheel alignment check is $120 and is worth it after a hard hit.
Alignment serviceWhere can I get a cheap, reliable car inspection in Northeast Philadelphia?
