Oil changes from $69.9912-month / 12,000-mile warranty

BMW issue? We diagnose accurately — no guesswork.

Why Choose AutoZmotive for Your BMW

BMW-Specific Experience

We work on 3 Series, 5 Series, X3, and X5 models regularly. BMW's common failure patterns — OFHG, valve covers, cooling system — are things we see and fix often.

Professional Diagnostic Tools

Our Topdon and Launch scanners access BMW-specific modules, fault codes, and live data streams, including engine management and transmission systems.

Independent Pricing vs. Dealer

BMW dealer labor rates in Philadelphia are among the highest in the region. We deliver the same quality repairs at a significantly lower rate. Clear quotes before any work starts.

12-Month / 12,000-Mile Warranty

All parts and labor are backed by our warranty. If a repair we made isn't right within a year or 12,000 miles, we'll fix it at no charge.

Photo & Video Documentation

You see what we see. Photos of leaks, worn components, and inspection findings are shared before we proceed — so every repair is your informed decision.

Common BMW Issues We See

Valve Cover Gasket Leaks

The valve cover gaskets on BMW's N52, N54, and N55 engines harden and crack with age, leading to oil leaks onto the exhaust and burning oil smell. We replace the gasket and inspect the surrounding area for secondary leaks during the same visit.

Oil Filter Housing Gasket

The oil filter housing gasket (OFHG) on BMW's inline-6 engines is a plastic component that degrades from heat cycles. It leaks oil externally and can contaminate the coolant. We replace the entire housing gasket and flush the cooling system if contamination is found.

Coolant System Failures

BMW plastic cooling system components — expansion tanks, coolant hoses, thermostat housings — become brittle with age. We see cracked expansion tanks and stuck thermostats frequently on E90, E92, and F30 series cars. Catching these early prevents overheating.

VANOS Rattle & Oil Leaks

The VANOS variable valve timing system on older BMWs (N42, N52) can develop rattles from worn solenoids or low oil pressure. We diagnose VANOS faults and address oil leaks from VANOS seals.

What We Don't Do (Honest)

A few BMW tasks require BMW's proprietary tooling or dealer authorization:

Warranty repairs under BMW's factory or CPO warranty — these require an authorized BMW dealer.

Coding and programming that specifically requires BMW ISTA/P or ISTA/D OEM software. We can handle most common coding via Topdon, but tasks exclusive to ISTA require a dealer or independent BMW specialist with OEM access.

Active safety system recalibration (camera, radar) after collision repair — requires OEM equipment and calibration targets.

BMW FAQ

Can an independent shop work on a BMW?
Yes. Independent shops with proper diagnostic equipment handle the vast majority of BMW maintenance and repairs. Our Topdon and Launch scanners read BMW-specific codes and live data. Dealer visits are needed only for active warranty claims, ISTA-dependent coding, or recalls.
My BMW is leaking oil — where is it coming from?
BMW's N52 and N54/N55 engines are notorious for oil leaks from the valve cover gasket, oil filter housing gasket, and rear main seal. These are common failures we see regularly. We identify the source before quoting so you only pay for what's actually leaking.
What oil does a BMW need and how often?
Most BMWs require LL-01 or LL-04 approved full synthetic oil — typically 5W-30 or 0W-30. BMW's recommended change interval is 10,000–15,000 miles per the iDrive service indicator, but many independent mechanics recommend 7,500 miles for better engine longevity. We use BMW-spec full synthetic starting at $69.99 (price may be higher for larger engines).
Do you do BMW coding?
We can perform most common coding tasks using our Topdon diagnostic platform. We cannot perform coding that specifically requires BMW ISTA/P or ISTA/D OEM software — those tasks require a dealer or specialist with BMW's proprietary system.
